Hony Deer

Honey Deer is a wife and husband folk-pop duo. In between budgeting, meal planning, and dressing up as their cats for Halloween, they write songs that make them laugh, make them cry, or make them go, “gawww”.

The top half of Honey Deer (head, spine, and pretty patterns) is Lisa Anderson, also of the project Lisa Anderson. The bottom half of Honey Deer (fuzzy belly, hooves, and pelvis) is Ben Nixon, founding member of recently derailed Locomotive Ghost.

Honey Deer released their first single, "Cold, Dark Days" in English, French, and Spanish at the tail end of 2019 and had their debut show at the historic King Eddy in Calgary, Alberta in March 2020. They are currently working on their first EP and look forward to performing again when conditions permit.

“Cold, Dark Days’, [is] a gentle reverie anchored by Anderson and Nixon’s ethereal vocals, resting atop a bed of twinkling piano keys and temperate string arrangements. The emotions are as translatable as winter itself, and in true Canadian fashion, written by Honey Deer in English, French, and Spanish.”

— Jarrett Edmund, The New LoFi

“Lisa Anderson et Ben Nixon sont amoureux dans la vie et ils forment également le duo Honey Deer. Ils ont lancé leur premier EP, Cold, Dark Days, en anglais, en français et en espagnol.”

— Geneviève Potvin, Radio-Canada

“Lisa Anderson, la cantante canadiense que residió en Ávila durante dos años, ha publicado un nuevo disco con una canción que recuerda su paso por la capital abulense.”
